Materials
Objects and materials recovered from a storage unit in Berlin: electronic devices, sound equipment, oscillators, air blowers, tubes, cables, floodlights, synthetic grass, fabrics, plastics, found and stored objects, audio, text and mixed media.

Description

A set of provisional configurations emerging from a field of stored potentials.

By means of a series of chance operations, a small white cellar is transformed into a sublimation apparatus of sorts. Objects that remained suspended for years in a time-freeze reservoir are brought back into circulation.

Lugon Santos enters into dialogue with himself from almost three years ago through the reopening of a storage unit that remained closed for two and a half years. Inside: fragments of a former studio life—machines, tools, artist books, electronics, synthetic grass, air blowers, cables, unfinished projects and forgotten intentions.

The urge to keep everything becomes impossible. The task is not preservation, but selection. Some objects return. Others remain dormant.

During its years of closure, the storage unit continued producing unexpected proximities and accidental alliances. Objects from different periods, places and projects shared the same suspended time, slowly forming assemblages of their own. The exhibition emerges from the encounter with these latent constellations.

Sound and matter, memory and infrastructure, organic and synthetic elements, are brought together in provisional arrangements. Not as finished sculptures, but as temporary negotiations between things that have survived distance, storage and transformation.

The work reflects on the invisible systems of association embedded within memory itself. Objects carry traces of previous relations, just as bodies carry impressions of dreams, desires, obsessions and forgotten plans. What returns to the world is not merely a collection of stored things, but a field of relationships that persisted in silence while nobody was watching.
